Senior Minister - Chuck Burns

July 4, 2008

Dean Kelly, author of “Why Conservative Churches Are Growing,” proclaims that the reason any church grows is that it sticks to business. What is the main business of the church? It is to keep referring and pointing people toward God, to keep viewing the world under God, to keep the God question on the table, to keep asking, in all of its thought and life together, “What does this have to do with God?”

Kelly reminds us that churches decline when they forget, “It’s about God.” If a church falls into the trap of “maintaining the church,” quite often they lose sight of what the business of the church really is, involving people in the Holy. Churches need to keep it about God. As we share together in ministry and the business of the church let us be sure to ask the question, “What does this have to do with God?”

God Bless
